Review // Penneys/Primark P.S Makeup Brushes

Hey guys, If you follow me over on Instagram you may have seen that I picked up some of the super cheap P.S. Makeup Brushes from Penneys. I'd had been on the fence about picking them up but decided to give them a go. I've been trying them pretty much daily and I'm so impressed by them I've even bought a backup or two!
Here's my review.

The first of the face brushes I picked up was the Double Ended Stippling Brush - €2.50, which aren't really stippling brushes in my opinion, but angled and flat top kabuki brushes. Both sides are dense but quite soft. I use the angled brush for foundation and I love it! It is a lot smaller than your typical angled kabuki brush, but don't let that put you off. It blends product beautifully into the skin and given the smaller size, it gets around smaller areas of the face with ease. The flat side comes in very handy for cream contour, especially for laying it down and then blending with the angled side.
This is one of the brushes I've since picked up a backup of!

Next up is the Smokey Eye Shadow Brush - €2.50. This double ended brush comes with a fluffy domed blending brush on one end and an angled liner brush on the other. This is definitely my favourite of all the brushes I've tried and I've picked up two more! The blending brush is super soft and well worth the punt. The angled side is a little two wide to use for eyeliner (in my opinion), but I do love it for my brows. The combination of this and my NYX Eyebrow Gel is a match made in heaven!

The next face brush I picked up was the Powder and Blusher Brush - €2.50 and again, I love it! Both sides are so soft and fluffy. The Powder (larger) side is perfect for dusting powder all over the face, where the Blush (smaller) side is a fantastic all rounder. I use it for setting my undereye area, contour and blush and I know that Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits uses it for applying foundation, but I've yet to give that a go! I'll definitely be picking up another one or two of these! (Edit* I've picked another one up!)

Carrying on with the face brushes, I picked up the Contour Brush - €2.00 to give it a go! This is nice fluffy but flat angled brush, that actually works quite well for both a subtle contour and a more carved out look. I picked up a second one of these by mistake, but im actually glad I did, as I've been using it for setting my undereye area, for blush application and for highlighter! Its quite the multi-tasker!

Last but not least is the Kabuki Brush - €2.50. This is a super soft fluffy powder brush, which is pretty much identical to the Real Techniques Powder brush. The only difference being the handle size. Its a great brush for dusting powder or bronzer all over the face and neck, but because its synthetic I've found it brilliant for applying instant tan, like the Cocoa Brown Instant Tanning Gel on my neck!

Review // Catrice: Prime and Fine - Professional Contouring Palette (010 Ashy Radiance)

The Catrice Professional Contouring Palette is something I had been wanting to pick up for the longest time! So when I finally spotted it in Penneys (Newbridge) I whipped it up. You'll have to look for one of the larger Catrice stands to find this as, annoyingly, the smaller ones don't seem to be carrying it yet.

There are two shades available '010 Ashy Radiance' and '020 Warm Harmony'. I went for Ashy Radiance, the cooler of the two as I'm quite pale and felt it would be a much better match for me and for contouring in general.
The packaging is much the same as the 'Absolute' eyeshadow palettes, black, with a clear plastic lid and silver writing on the front. It also has a pictorial on the back showing where to place both powders. Great for those new to contouring! The product is also divided in my favourite way, 1/3 highlighter and 2/3 contour.

The highlight shade is a light neutral/slightly pink toned shade that's very finely milled. It's not overly pigmented so is very natural and subtle to start off, but can be built up to a more intense highlight. This is a perfect for a natural daytime look as it doesn't contain any glitter particles so you won't look like a disco ball!

The contour shade really impressed me! I usually go between (and mix) the NYX blush in the shade 'Taupe' (which is very cool toned) and the Sleek Contour Kit in 'Light' (which leans a little warmer) depending on whether I'm tanned or not, but the Catrice contour shade is the perfect balance between the two!  It's quite pigmented so a little goes a long way, but it blends out beautifully, so no need to worry about stripes or patches on your visage!

One thing I will note about the contour shades is that it kicks up quite a bit of fallout within the pan, nothing that will cause any major problems but it's worth tapping off the excess from the brush before applying.   Both shades wear quite well on me considering I have the oiliest skin! So I think this contour kit is well worth a shot and at less that €6 I don't think you'll be sorry for picking it up!

Have you guys tried it? Let me know what you think!

Haul // Urban Decay, Benefit, theBalm, NYX + More!

Hey guys! Over the past few weeks, I've picked up a few new bits here and there both online and instore and promised a haul when the last of it arrived. So here it is!

We'll start with my Debenhams purchases which was the last package to arrive and my most anticipated!
I had ordered the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette for my cousin for her 18th, but as soon as I seen it in person I knew it had to be mine! I haven't used it yet (need to photograph it first..boo!) but it looks amazing!
Sticking with Urban Decay, I finally caved and ordered Riff eyeshadow which has been made so popular because of the beautiful Rosie Connolly. It's worth the hype! I used it the other day and before I even applied mascara, I got complimented! Stunning!
Finally, I ordered the Naked Weightless Concealer in Fair Neutral, I've only used it once, but on first impression, I really like it!

From Cloud10Beauty, I picked up the Nip&Fab Glycolic Daily Cleansing Pads which I've been scouting Penneys for, for so long (I've yet to see one Nip&Fab product in Penneys). They are available in boots, but there a few euro more so Cloud10 is the way to go and after humming and hawing for so long as to whether I needed Mary-Lou Manizer I decided to dive straight in and purchase theBalm Manizer Sisters Palette which includes Mary-Lou, Cindy-Lou and Betty-Lou all in the one palette! I've since concluded that everyone needs Mary-Lou in their life!

From Penneys, I picked up the new Catrice Professional Contouring Palette in 010 Ashy Radiance and I absolutely love it so far! Review coming soon. I nabbed the last Essence 2in1 Lash&Brow Comb, because it's so handy and inexpensive and finally the FaceTime Dark Circle Reducer Eye Patches, which I've yet to use but will report back.

With Boots.ie now stocking NYX cosmetics I jumped at the chance to pick some bits up and purchased the NYX Mirco Brow Pencil in Ash Brown which is said to be a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz (comparison soon) and I also purchased the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette which has been raved about by the likes as Jaclyn Hill and LustreLux!

In store in Boots I picked up some cute little Benefit Minis including High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer, That Gal Illuminating Face Primer, It's Potent Eye Cream and the Triple Performing Facial Emulsion. These were on offer at 4 for €20!
Boots were also having a 3for2 offer on, so I also got some backups of my Revlon ColourStay Foundation (combination/oily) in Buff and the Max Factor Face Finity Primer and purchased the Bourjois 1 Second Volume Mascara in Ultra Black (limited edition packaging) because Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits raves about this NON-STOP so I need it! Finally, whilst about to leave I remembered I wanted to pick up the Duo Lash Adhesive (clear) which EVERYONE used and I've been meaning to try for so long.

Finally... and technically not a proper purchase, but I've included them non-the-less are the mini Clinic Pop Lipcolour + Primer lipsticks that came free in Decembers issue of  Glamour Magazine. There are four different freebies to collect from Clinique, a Moisturiser, a Mascara and the choice of two lip shades, Nude Pop and Cherry Pop. I picked up two magazines to try out both. I can tell you now that the full-size Nude Pop will be mine!

I can't wait to put all these new products to the test and hopefully get some reviews up soon! Let me know you've been buying lately!

Review // Soap & Glory: Archery Brow Tint and Precision Shaping Pencil

Yesterday I thought to myself. What's my 'thing' with makeup? Some girls love talking about blush, some are foundation addicts, some have an obsession with lipsticks and I think I've figured out mine. Brows. Brows can basically make or break the whole face so I love trying out different brow products!

One brow product that's been on my radar for quite some time was the Soap&Glory Archery Brow Tint & Precision Shaping Pencil. S&G have two eyebrow pencil products this and the S&G Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush, but I choose this one because I wanted to try a brow marker style product which this has.

Review // Soap & Glory: Archery Brow Tint and Precision Shaping Pencil

So the Brow Tint and Pencil is a double ended product that has a very fine felt marker on one end and a retractable pencil on the other. The 'Tint' side is what I was most excited to try and I still get excited every time I go to use it! I have very sparse hairs at the front of my brow so I'm always looking for a product that I can apply super fine to mimic real hair. This is absolutely perfect for that and the fact that its a 'tint' means it's not overly saturated with pigment so it looks just about as natural as it gets.

Review // Soap & Glory: Archery Brow Tint and Precision Shaping Pencil

The other side of the 'Archery Brow Tint and Pencil' is, of course, the pencil side. It's a fairly typical eyebrow pencil, but because I'm used to using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, I did find this to be a little bit to big and I had to be a lot more careful with it. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but something to be aware of when purchasing.

Review // Soap & Glory: Archery Brow Tint and Precision Shaping Pencil

Here's a swatch of both ends, the 'Tint' on the left and the 'Pencil' on the right.
As you can see the felt marker end is great for creating tiny hairlike strokes and can be made finer or thicker depending on the pressure.

Review // Soap & Glory: Archery Brow Tint and Precision Shaping Pencil

I really do love this product, but its doesn't come without a drawback.. and that's the limited shade range. It's only available in two shades Love is Blond and Brownie Points. You'd be forgiven if you thought this was the lighter of the two, but, unfortunately, its not. I have dark brown/verging on black  hair and I can just about get away with this on my 'natural/no-makeup makeup days. It's easily remedied by going over top with a darker brow gel,  Personally, I love doing my brows so it's not a big deal at all, but it is something to bare in mind if you're thinking about picking it up.

Now I really want to pick up the Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush and give it a whirl, its said to be an almost exact dupe for the ABH Brow Wiz, so I'd like to pit the again each other!

So there you have it, guys! If you want to pick up the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint and Precision Shaping Pencil you can do so most Boots stores and online here

Event // Cocoa Brown - #PassionPersistencePink @ The Shelbourne Hotel

Hi guys!

Last month I was very kindly invited along to attended the very much anticipated #PassionPersistencePink event held by Cocoa Brown in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. I went with Grainne from Trés-Belle Blog as we recently only found out that we live within 5 minutes of each other! She's one of the funniest, prettiest, most down to earth girls I've ever met, so definitely give her a follow. We also met up with the fabulous Katie from Blogging It Beautiful who was equally nice, so give her a follow too!!

As we entered the Hotel and registered, Marissa was awaiting all who came to the event and we got to have our picture taken with her! She's such a doll, We then took our seats and eagerly waited for the event to start!

To start the day we were all given a little present from Flormar which included a lipstick and a lip liner and were treated to a fantastic ombre lip demo by Rosie Conolly, Tara O Farrell, AJ Fitzsimons and Marissa herself.

We also got to ask the girls any questions we had and they were only too happy to answer!

Next up was a live Tontouring demo by Marissa on her beautiful sister!
She used Gentle Bronzed (my HG tan) as a base and 1 Hour Tan as the contour. Tontouring has taken the world by storm and its something I really want to try.. although I'll have to build up some courage beforehand!

After the Tontouring demo, we were spoilt with food and cupcakes from the Shelbourne. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures before I scoffed mine, but we had a selection of sandwiches, smoked salmon and goats cheese, very fancy indeed. I did, however, get to snap my cupcake! That frosting was the best I've ever tasted, it was melt in your mouth stuff!

Then the part we were all waiting for! The new product reveal! I can't explain how much excitement was in the air when this was happening and Marissa's love for her brand was evident with every single word she spoke! She was just beaming when she finally let the Tan out of the bag!

Here they are!

The two newest members of the already adored Cocoa Brown family! The Instant Tan Bronzing Gel in both Matte and Shimmer!

Some info on them:
Instant/Wash Off
No Fake Tan Smell (as always)
Two Varieties (Matte and Shimmer)
Lightweight Formula (Gel)
Dries Instantly
Can be used on the face!

I've already used the Matte one quite a bit, but I'll be putting them both to the test soon and will have a separate post on them soon.. but *SPOILER* I'm in love!

To finish the day with a bang, we were treated to an amazing makeup demonstration by X-Factor  Makeup Artist Julia Carta! The finished look was not only stunning, but I learned so much from Julia as well!  She's such a lovely person and was so informative and generous with her knowledge of makeup!

If all that wasn't enough, Marissa, her team and all the amazing sponsors gifted us with the most amazing 'Swag Bags' (as Marissa liked to call it).
Here's what was included!

It was such a brilliant event and I was so honoured to be invited as a VIP guest! A huge thanks to Marissa and her team, they were just amazing and a huge thanks to the sponsors of the day and to the brands who filled our goodie bags. One word. WOW!

And just in case you care... This is what I wore!

Masterclass // Pro Makeup Masterclass w/ Siobhán McDonnell and Hayley Coleman

Hey guys, back in March I went to a Makeup Masterclass held by the lovely Siobhán McDonnell and the equally lovely Hayley Coleman in the G Hotel in Galway (you can read all about it here). I absolutely loved the class and when the girls announced another one I bought my ticket ASAP!

This Masterclass took place on the 14th June in the G Hotel which focused on how to achieve long lasting heatproof makeup, summer trends and festival makeup tips. I don't do well in heat, neither does my oily face, so I needed to be there!

This time the Masterclass started an hour earlier (1 pm) so we could all chill out and chat throughout and not have to worry about running short of time. We were all in a different room, just off the main reception area and the setup was fantastic and beautifully laid out! And like the previous masterclass, we were all supplied with plenty of refreshments, pens and paper and a goodie bag (or 2!), but more on that later!

The day started with Siobhán and Hayley introducing themselves and talking a little bit about their background in the beauty and makeup industry and then Siobhán got to business by taking us through some common skincare concerns and products she uses and recommends! She also talked about how important SPF is not only during the summer months but all year round and also the order in which skin care products should be applied.

She then started to work her magic on the stunning model Tara, who is the current Miss Mayo! Siobhán first prepped the skin and began working on Tara's base and brows using products from Urban Decay, Mac and brushes from Real Techniques and Blank Canvas Cosmetics (who was one of the sponsors for the day!).

After Siobhán had finished we are all absolutely spoilt with some amazing treats! Sweets, jellies, crisps, lemonade and genuinely the best cupcakes I've ever eaten! They're by Enrica's Cafe in Westport, Mayo. Seriously if your ever in Westport, get over there and grab a cupcake!

After we stuffed ourselves, Hayley took over and started to do a bronzed summer-appropriate look on Tara. She used beautiful brown and gold shades on the eye, kept the skin warm and glowy and opted for a nude lip.
Hayley used some of her favourite products for the look including MAC Pro Longwear Shadow in Uninterrupted, MAC MSF in Give Me Sun and some Red Cherry Lashes.

Hayleys' finished look with nude lips!

Now it was time to incorporate the festival element into the look, so Siobhán used her Kryolin Cream Color palette and MAC's Fascinating Eye Pencil to draw a festival inspired flower design on the side of Tara's face.

Before the Masterclass ended, Hayley decided to change up the lips to a much more bright and vibrant shade. She used MAC's 'Lasting Sensation' lip liner and 'Make Me Gorgeous' lipstick. Here's the finished look! The girls then finished the evening with some giveaways!

Here's a sneaky shot of some of the products both Siobhán and Hayley used on Tara....

...and here's some of the giveaway prizes!

Now onto the goodie bag, because I know you're all thirsty to know what we got! Siobhán and Hayley blew it out of the water with the goodie bags! They (plural!) were packed with amazing products! We were showered with goodies from Blank Canvas Cosmetics, Isa Dora, bBold Tan and Redz Hair Design and Beauty Bar (which included products from K-Pak, GlamGlow and Alfaparf Milano) and some perfume samples!

Have you ever seen a goodie bag as drool-worthy as this?

If you've ever been sitting on the fence about going to one of Siobhán and Hayley's Masterclasses before, I say go for it! 100%! They're both so unbelievably nice and welcoming and really take the time to listen and give advice and recommendations based on years of experience! I really can't recommend their Masterclass enough!

I want to personally say a HUGE THANK YOU to both ladies! You've both outdone yourselves on this one and also a Thank You to all the wonderful sponsors for the amazing products in our goodie bags!

Siobhán mentioned that the next one will be more of a seminar style day talking about the industry in more detail, It'll be held later on in the year, but that's all I know for now. As soon as I find out more I'll let ye all know in a little blog post! After I've secured my ticket of course!

Hope you enjoyed guys and go follow Siobhán and Hayley on all their social media platforms! You won't regret it!
